Down But Not Out

Glasgow City will have to make a bright start next Wednesday if they are to stand a chance of making the last 16 of the womens' Champion's League It was a disappointed and dejected Glasgow City head coach Eddie Wolecki Black and Jane Ross who met the press last night after their 2-1 defeat to Fortuna Hjørring. A goal in the second minute from Nadia Nadim with a second from the same player on the half-hour mark doing nothing to help City get out of the starting blocks. Their slow start to the game cost them in the long run and even Ross scoring a peach of a goal with 15 minutes to go, to rack up her 150th for the club, was not enough to save the game. However, as Wolecki Black reminded everybody, the tie lasts 180 minutes and he was confident his side would score in the return game in Denmark on Wednesday 3 October.  Still lots to play for. To go one behind after two minutes isn’t what you plan for. It’s a poor goal from our point of view and we’re really disappointed in that. Everybody knows we’re capable of scoring goals. It’s whether we’re capable of going over there and scoring goals and making sure we don’t lose silly ones, that’s the big question. It’s a tough challenge for us but we’ll certainly relish it."
