McManaman will not be joining Burnley

Rumours have been circulating over the past few days that Latics winger Callum McManaman is set for a loan move to Championship club Burnley. However Roberto Martinez has today rubbished the rumours and has stated that he fully expects McManaman to play a much increased role for the Latics this season. Martinez was quote this morning in a national newspaper saying: "I expect Callum to play a big part with us this season. That's a real positive for us to have a couple of youngsters of that quality. "So I was really pleased with that and I think it shows the competition we've got now for places." Both McManaman and Arsenal loanee Ryo Myaichi are expected to be given a chance this evening in the Capital One Cup this evening.
