John Terry didn't kill anyone, says Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti

John Terry may have lost the England job, but there is nothing he could do in his private life that would jeopardise his position as Chelsea captain - as long as he retains his high standards on the pitch. That was the stance of Carlo Ancelotti on Friday as the Chelsea boss reiterated his support for his skipper, just hours before he was stripped of the England captaincy. Case for the defence: Chelsea captain John Terry has been publicly backed by his manager Carlo Ancelotti (below) Ancelotti said: 'I'm not interested in the private life of anybody. If the private life of a player doesn't impinge upon his professional life, I don't have a problem.'If John comes to the training ground but is not able to train because he's tired or nervous, I can be interested then. But he trains very well. He's always ready to train, always focused, always involved. He didn't kill anybody.'The Italian said Terry had been 'very normal' in a 'very normal week' at Chelsea HQ, adding: 'I think that he is able to leave his problems outside the training ground. He is a very strong character. Every coach would like to train a player like John Terry.'Of more pressing interest to Ancelotti is tomorrow's Premier League clash with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea boss confirmed Terry would play and said he believed the 29-year-old had the backing of the team, who could use the allegations surrounding their captain as a 'good motivation to do better'.Victory would take Chelsea nine points clear of Arsenal and Ancelotti said: 'It will be difficult for them to return to the top. There are a lot of points. They are involved in the Champions League, too, so it could be very difficult for Arsenal to stay in touch with Chelsea and Manchester United.' John Terry sacked as England captain in just 10 minutes by Fabio CapelloMARTIN SAMUEL: Never mind morals, the sacking of John Terry was a stand for EnglandDES KELLY: Captain Chav John Terry is now England's Daddy FoolRolls-Royce Rio Ferdinand: He's the captain players respect, says Jamie RedknappTerry scandal will NOT affect Chelsea when they face Arsenal, claims ArseneCHELSEA FC
