Beattie ponders £3m Sunderland switch as Black Cats give up on Keane

Moving north: BeattieSunderland have targeted Stoke striker James Beattie after their move for Benjani hit problems and a proposed deal for Robbie Keane was deemed too costly. Beattie has travelled to the North East for tonight's match between Sunderland and Stoke and talks were ongoing over a £3m move.Sunderland's deal for Manchester City's Benjani has stalled over personal terms and West Ham, Blackburn and Turkish club Galatasaray are monitoring events. Blackburn had also expressed interest in Beattie and could now come back in for him.They are also speaking to Lens striker Aruna Dindane after his move to Birmingham fell through.Sunderland are in talks with Tottenham right back Alan Hutton over a £3.5m move and could revive a loan deal for Aston Villa defender Habib Beye. They had also targeted £3m-rated Hamburg defender Guy Demel, but the Ivory Coast international has opted to stay with the Bundesliga club. West Ham are also keen on Hutton.
