Lee: We'll miss fantastic Mendes

Mendes has returned to Portugal for a medical and to thrash out personal terms after both clubs agreed a fee.A knee injury means he has not featured for the Scottish champions since October but McCulloch insists his departure will not go unnoticed in the dressing room.He said: "He's a fantastic player, a flair player and he sees a pass."He's a really good player and he's good to have about the dressing room."If he goes, we will miss him."Boss Walter Smith will now begin the search for new personnel before the transfer window closes. But McCulloch believes the current squad is capable of success regardless of new arrivals or not.He said: "We've had a couple of injuries recently and that's just been down to bad luck."Last year we won the league with the players who are here so there is no reason why we can't do it again."We just need a bit of luck with the injuries and it will give us a better chance of success."Once we get DaMarcus Beasley, Kris Boyd and Kenny Miller back fully fit, I think you will see a different team again."As long as we can keep grinding out results, then everybody will be happy."However, McCulloch was keen to play down their 10-point advantage at the summit as Rangers prepare to play host to bottom side Falkirk in the SPL.He said: "We are in a good position but I wouldn't say it's all over. There is still a lot of football to be played."I don't see it as any more than being in a good position."It's a good gap but it could easily be back down to level points."I don't think we will be getting carried away."
