Little: Gers wanted three points

The 20-year-old came off the bench to net a last-gasp equaliser against Hearts to cancel out Scott Robinson's opener and earn a share of the points. The close-range strike prevented Rangers from slumping to their first defeat in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League at Ibrox since succumbing to Inverness last March."On a personal level it was very special for me. I was delighted and enjoyed it," said Little."But, for the team, we wanted to get the three points and it's a bit disappointing."It was a very important goal but three points would have been better."The fact that I couldn't really celebrate it wasn't ideal."It was the first time that my mum, dad and two brothers were all over for the game and I wanted to go and celebrate but I couldn't really do it because we needed to try to get another one."Victory would have allowed the Scottish champions to move a staggering 12 points clear at the summit ahead of Celtic's meeting with St Johnstone 24 hours later."That was the aim," said Little."But we knew this game was going to be very hard. Hearts were always going to come here and make it difficult for us."Unfortunately we didn't create as many chances as we would have liked in the second half."But there is a long way to go and every game is just as big as every other game so hopefully we can get a good run and push on."With Kris Boyd, Kenny Miller, Nacho Novo, Steven Naismith and DaMarcus Beasley all sidelined through injury, Rangers were toiling to find the back of the net against a Hearts side who were reduced to ten men following the dismissal of Christian Nade. And Little revealed that the message from the bench when he was thrown into action was a simple one."Try and get a goal," he smiled. "That was all Kenny McDowall said."I try to be as confident as I can. When I get to play up front, I'm looking to score goals."It wasn't as if it was anything special - the ball broke to me and if I'd missed it, it would have been a bad miss."But I'm happy to get a goal and it's a dream come true to score for Rangers at Ibrox."With no funds to recruit new players this month and a threadbare squad stretched to the limit, Little says plans to go out on loan have now been shelved in favour of making an impact at Rangers. The Northern Irishman said: "The squad at the minute is very, very thin and it works in my favour because hopefully I will get a few more chances."I have really enjoyed getting my few bits and pieces on the pitch lately and hopefully I can get more and more game-time."The financial situation is not ideal but it's good for the young boys coming through."All the young boys now realise that a few of us are getting a chance and that motivates them and pushes them on."But, for the sake of the team, we want all those boys back as soon as possible."
