Preston striker Jon Parkin relishing big battle with Chelsea's John Terry

Striker Jon Parkin has warned John Terry to prepare for some punishment when Preston go hunting a Premier League scalp. The giant hitman refuses to be intimidated by the fearless England skipper as he attempts to spring a cup shock. Ready for battle: Jon Parkin (left) Parkin is hoping going toe-to-toe with Terry will inspire his side against a Chelsea team that netted seven goals last weekend. And he has the bulk to back up his words with Parkin's 6ft 4in and 14 stone frame presenting Terry with an massive obstacle to his own cup dreams. Parkin said: 'I am looking forward to playing against John Terry. That would be a lovely experience for me.'He is a world class centre-half and it would be nice to see how I can on against him. 'I like a battle against a player that has a physical style. I certainly won't be running away from him. If we can have a good battle it would be a good crack. 'I have never played against him before so it would be a great experience to see how I do.' Parkin admits to a sense of apprehension in the Preston camp as they trained this week knowing they faced a Chelsea team full of goals. But after the banter died down he revealed there has been a growing belief that new boss Darren Ferguson can engineer a stunning cup shock. He said: 'Obviously we will be a little bit in awe but we are professionals and we have to do our job. 'There was a bit of banter about their scoreline on Monday morning during training. We talked about their score but Saturday is a different game. 'There have been a few shocks in the cup and we are hoping we will be the next one in line.  'It is going to be a massive uphill struggle but we will just go out there, give 100 per cent and see what happens. 'When we lost to Spurs in the Carling Cup I don't think it was a 5-1. We were losing 1-0 to Liverpool until the 92nd minute last season so we gave them a good run for their money as well so we will have to wait and see.'On paper our chances are very slim but Barnsley beat them in the FA Cup the year before so you never know what could happen.'' Parkin is backing keeper Andy Lonergan to ensure Preston do not suffer the kind of humiliation Sunderland endured at Chelsea's hands last week. He added: 'I think he knows he could be having a busy day so he will be expecting that. 'Bur Andy is comfortably one of the best keepers I have worked with. Hopefully he won't have much to do but I am sure he will do himself proud.'  PICTURED: Essien back in London as Chelsea star waits on injury verdictArshavin stuns Arsenal: We may be top but Chelsea are true league leaders
