Midfielder makes Hatters exit

It was thought he would be handed a contract until the end of the season once the January transfer window opened.County claim McNeil was told he would only be offered a longer contract if the club was out of administration. But after the Football League failed to approve the takeover last week, he was offered another one-month deal which was turned down.McNeil told the Stockport Express: "I'm upset and disappointed because I would have liked to have stayed."I left in the summer because I knew the way things were going at the club. I tried very hard to find a new club but finances are tight everywhere at the moment, and when I got a call from County out of the blue I thought it would be stupid to turn down the chance to play League One football."
