Football: Rolls rules Quinn out at Wessex

FORMER Cherries boss Jimmy Quinn was set to be unveiled as the new manager of Wey-mouth last night, the Echo understands. Terras chairman George Rolls, who worked with Quinn at Cambridge, was close to agreeing a deal with the 50-year-old, following the controversial sacking of Ian Hutchinson on Sunday. However, Quinn was unable to get to the Wessex Stadium for a press conference last night and no longer appears to be Rolls's first choice for the job. The Terras chairman said: I don't believe Jimmy Quinn will be the next manager of Weymouth at this time. Rolls had earlier told supporters he had withdrawn an offer for a manager believed to be Quinn who still wanted the job but couldn't get to the Wessex Stadium until tomorrow. Quinn said car trouble had prevented him from making the proposed Press conference yesterday. The two spoke on Monday about their plans for Weymouth and had ambitions to repeat the success Quinn enjoyed at Cambridge, a stint that saw him take United to the Blue Square Premier play-off final in 2008 while Rolls was a member of the U's board.
