Newcastle sign Kevin Nolan for £4m from Bolton

The 26-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half year deal at St James' Park bringing to an end a 10-year association with the Reebok Stadium where he was captain. "When I heard there was a chance of getting Kevin I was determined we would pull out all of the stops to bring him here," Kinnear said. "He's a player I think our fans will love. He's a real inspirational player and a great character. He's the sort of lad who never knows when he is beaten. "He's got a good eye for goal and has got bags of Premier League experience." Nolan will wear the number four shirt and is set to make his debut when Newcastle host Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby on Sunday. "It's all happened so quickly but it was an opportunity which was impossible to turn down," said Nolan. "I can't wait to play in front of these fans every week and I'm really looking forward to the next four-and-a-half years." Nolan made 323 appearances for Bolton following his debut in 1999 and will immediately fill a hole left by Joey Barton, who has been ruled out for 10 weeks with a broken foot.
