Nice confirm signing of Digard from Boro

MIDDLESBROUGH midfielder Didier Digard has completed his loan move to Nice, the Ligue 1 club has confirmed. Digard joined Boro in a protracted £4m switch from Paris St Germain under former boss Gareth Southgate in July 2008, but injuries have limited him to just 34 appearances. The Frenchman is currently on the sidelines once again with a back problem, but has been deemed surplus to requirements under new Boro boss Gordon Strachan and has now returned to his homeland. Nice confirmed on their website that Digard has moved to the Nice Stade Municipal du Ray on a six-month loan deal with the French club retaining the option to buy the 23-year-old at the end of the season. It is anticipated that, if the permanent deal goes throgh, Boro will receive the vast majority of the £4m they shelled out to sign Digard 18 months ago. Digard becomes Nice's first winter recruit and will train with his new team-mates today. ** READ MORE MIDDLESBROUGH NEWS IN TOMORROW'S NORTHERN ECHO **
