Lambert plays down Canaries climb

The Canaries have now won nine games out of 11 thanks to a late strike from teenager Korey Smith after it looked like the visitors would be frustrated by Wycombe keeper Scott Shearer.Lambert, though, believes his players were worth their win and paid tribute to the Norwich fans whose vocal support looked to give the team the boost they needed."When I took over if you said we would be second in the league I'd have taken it, but I want to be first," he said. "I can't thank the players enough, they have been terrific."I'm a great believer in trying to win as many games as you can. We have made great strides in the last few months, but it's only a table and I'm not one for looking at it at the moment."Lambert continued: "We have a never-say-die attitude backed by a terrific following that spurs us on. The fans came a long way to see us at Walsall and that was called off so it's a massive thanks to them for that and again they were incredible."
