Rovers equipped for weather battle

Hot air, powered by gas cylinders, has been pumped underneath them and ground staff are working round the clock to ensure the Prenton Park pitch is playable. The covers will be removed on Sunday afternoon ahead of the 6.15pm kick-off and Rovers chief executive Mick Horton said: "Because of the severe night time temperatures forecast over the next few nights, the club decided to bring in the special covers to ensure Sunday's game goes ahead."It is a big match for the club, and a large crowd is expected, so we are doing everything we can to beat the cold weather."It follows on from the hard work our ground staff have done over the Christmas period which allowed the Carlisle game to be played."Tranmere boss Les Parry has no new injury concerns as his resurgent side prepare to host Mick McCarthy's men.Alan Mahon (ankle) and Bas Savage (Achilles) remain long-term absentees but Rovers have no other problems as they seek to record an upset at the expense of the Barclays Premier League side.Parry's men have lost only one of their last eight matches in all competitions and he believes they can give Wolves a fright.Parry said: "All I'm concerned about is that we give them a game. If, at the end of the day, they know they've been in a game I'll be happy."It's going to be difficult for us, they're all Premier League players. They won't want to be beaten."Tranmere have been handed a boost after defender Zoumana Bakayogo extended his contract at Prenton Park until the end of the season. The 23-year old, who joined earlier this term, has been an ever-present since Parry took charge.
