Gynn backs Sky Blues for cup tonic

Gynn spent 10 years with the Sky Blues between 1983-1993 and was a key member of John Sillett's victorious 1987 side that beat Tottenham 3-2 at Wembley to help clinch the biggest honour in the club's 126-year history. And ahead of the third-round trip to Fratton Park, Gynn said: "I would be a lot more optimistic if Coventry were playing at home, especially with the form Portsmouth are in at the moment."I would say they are certainly the favourites whatever side they put out but City have got a good chance of getting a replay which obviously would be ideal - to get them back to the Ricoh and hopefully beat them second time around."Certainly Coventry have got a chance of getting something out of it. Obviously after last year's heroics in the cup they will fancy their chances against Premier League teams and I fancy Coventry to get a draw out of it - 1-1 is my prediction."Asked what effect Pompey's current financial uncertainty will have on Coventry's chances, Gynn replied: "Without question I think it helps, obviously with them getting a bit of a pasting at home to Arsenal as well, confidence wise they've got to be at rock bottom."
