Boyd simply the best - Jefferies

Boyd smashed Henrik Larsson's Scottish Premier League scoring record with five goals in a 7-1 win over Dundee United at Ibrox taking his tally to 160.Kilmarnock boss Jefferies, who sold Boyd to the Light Blues four years ago, praised the ex-Rugby Park striker and said that staving off bids for the player in the January transfer window could go a long way towards Rangers retaining the SPL title. The Ibrox club are seven points clear of Celtic ahead of their Old Firm derby at Parkhead on Sunday where Boyd will be looking to add to his tally."You have to say that Boydy is simply a terrific goalscorer," Jefferies said. "He is a dangerous player, with terrific instinct and technique in and around the box."Dundee United must be sick of the sight of him."He always seems to score against them and he scored five against them when he was at Kilmarnock."But that's what he is capable of doing."People say he doesn't score against the big teams but there are very few teams he hasn't scored against."If you give him the right service then he will put the ball in the net and people are actually surprised when he misses a chance."And like all top scorers he has great belief in himself and does not let missed chances upset him."He has the attitude, like all top scorers, that they are in there to miss the chances and if another chance comes along they will score."Rangers will be desperate to hang on to him when the transfer window opens, although his value will have increased again."Although they are not a one-man team, as we have seen in the past, his goals could win the league for them."
