Terrors will miss Levein - Boyd

But the Rangers striker has backed the Tannadice club to bounce back from Levein's departure to become Scotland manager. However, Boyd will be more than happy to see Rangers take advantage of their transitional period when United travel to Ibrox in the SPL tonight."He will be a big miss," said Boyd. "They have done really well for the last few years under Craig Levein."But Craig has moved on to the Scotland job and I'm sure Dundee United will get someone else in who will do a good job as well."But, at this precise moment in time, all we are focusing on is winning the game on Wednesday night."Levein's assistant, Peter Houston, has taken over as caretaker boss while the club searches for a new manager and Rangers boss Walter Smith does not expect to see too many changes this evening."I don't think they will be a different prospect," he said. "Peter has worked with them for the three years that Craig has been there. They have worked very well together."With Craig leaving they will be a little upset but Peter will know the circumstances they are working in."He will try to get them back on track after what has been a difficult period for them."Meanwhile, Damian Casalinuovo watched Martin Palermo go from being the whipping boy of Argentinian football to a national hero - and predicts Boyd can do the same in Scotland. The Dundee United striker cannot believe the criticism Boyd gets for the limits surrounding his game."Kris Boyd is not respected in Scotland like he should be," he said."I don't understand why people criticise him. He's top scorer in the SPL, that's not an easy thing to do, and I think he's a great player."People say all he does is score goals but as a striker that is what your job is. For a forward player that is the most important part of the game."I saw all this with Martin Palermo back in Argentina. People used to say about him 'he cannot run' or 'he cannot keep a football up for more than a second' - but he's Boca Juniors' top scorer."It was so bad he even had people shouting 'donkey' or 'you are the worst player in Argentina' at him in the street."He's the same as Boyd. He won't be found outside the box setting things up or dribbling past players, but once there's a chance to score you can bet he will put the ball in the net."It took time for people to get respect for Palermo and after he scored the goal against Peru in the World Cup qualifiers he is a hero back home."I think that maybe Scottish people will feel the same way about Boyd in future."Despite Rangers' resurgence, United's players are desperate to play at Ibrox because they want to erase the memories of their 3-0 defeat earlier this month."We are looking forward to the game at Ibrox because the last match was embarrassing for us," said Casalinuovo."That wasn't the real Dundee United so it's good to have a chance to put that right so soon."
