Preston sack Irvine

Preston North End have sacked manager Alan Irvine after he led them to just one win in their last 10 games. North End currently sit 16th in the Championship but are just eight points off the play-off spots with a game in hand. Irvine took charge of Preston in November 2007, leaving his role as assisstant manager of Everton to join the Deepdale outfit. He led them out of a relegation battle in his first season and followed it up last season with a top six finish, before losing in the play-off semi-final.
