Cooper unhappy despite Posh rally

Posh looked dead and buried when they trailed 4-0 at half-time to a Joe Ledley brace and further goals from Jay Bothroyd and the Championship's top scorer, Peter Whittingham - who had earlier hit a post. But they roared back after the interval, Cooper's half-time substitute Josh Simpson book-ending the scoring as Charlie Lee and George Boyd also struck to earn a 4-4 draw.Cooper, though, was more frustrated than delighted and said: "Our first-half performance was completely unacceptable."We didn't get close to Cardiff, we didn't tackle, we didn't head and to be quite honest, we didn't do anything."If you don't want to compete, you won't win a football match - whether it is in the local park or the Premier League."But he played down talk of an inspirational team-talk to inspire the fightback, and revealed: "I didn't say a lot to the players at half-time - in fact, I thought about getting in my car and going home!"But we changed our shape, changed our personnel and got ourselves back into the game."Cardiff probably thought it would be a stroll but we ended up getting a point, but I am still really frustrated that it took us until the second half to start playing."If we are capable of scoring four goals against a team chasing promotion in the space of 45 minutes, what could we do if we performed for a whole game?"Opposite number Dave Jones was left fuming by his side's dismal display after the break - which completed a miserable Christmas period, after a late slip-up saw the Bluebirds lose 1-0 to Plymouth on Boxing Day.Jones gave his players a post-match tongue-lashing and then went public with some fierce criticism. He said: "I can safely say I have never been involved in anything like this before. Peterborough were dead and buried until we let them back into the game."We had players thinking the game was over and not doing their jobs in the second half. None of us saw this coming after what happened in the first period."The players were told they had to continue doing things the right way, but it seems they felt there was another way and it all comes down to mentality."We should have won both games against Plymouth and Peterborough but have ended up with only one point."The players have been told in no uncertain terms that is not good enough and they will continue to be told again and again."
