Reading 1 Swansea 1: Sigurdsson's free-kick saves draw for McDermott

Brian McDermott is taking inspiration from Steve Coppell in his bid to land the Reading manager's job on a permanent basis. Gylfi Sigurdsson's stunning free-kick in first-half stoppage time cancelled out Darren Pratley's 36th-minute opener to rescue a second successive 1-1 draw for caretaker boss McDermott, who was a vital part of Coppell's coaching staff during Reading's two years in the Premier League. 'When Steve was here we had a motto, WNG, which meant 'win the next game'. I got a text from Steve last week and it just said WNG. That's all I can do, try to win the next game. I don't have a set number of games but I want the job and take inspiration from Steve as he was the most successful manager in Reading's history.'
