Derby 0 Blackpool 2: Clough under fire as Rams slump to dismal defeat

The boos rang out at Pride Park on Boxing Day as desperate Derby slumped to their second home defeat inside a week. The Seasiders strolled to a comfortable win against a Rams side which scarcely mustered a shot on goal. It was dismal fare for 30,000 fans who saw their team outplayed in virtually every department. Nervous New Year: Under pressure Derby boss Nigel Clough Chief tormentor was veteran striker Brett Ormerod who ran Derby's back line ragged and could have scored a hat full. As early as the second minute he rattled the Derby crossbar and had two other goal scoring chances in the opening quarter. It was his low left wing cross seven minutes before half-time which was turned into his own net by Jake Buxton, making his first appearance for Derby for four months. Ormerod twice went close in the second half before adding a deserved second when he was put through by Gary Taylor-Fletcher and rounded Stephen Bywater to score. With six minutes left Derby's misery was complete when Dean Moxey was sent off for bringing down Ormerod as he threatened to break free again. With a daunting away trip to Newcastle next on the agenda it looks like being a nervous New Year for Derby boss Nigel Clough. From Blackpool to the World Cup: Hameur Bouazza can't wait to face Fabio Capello's EnglandCoca-Cola Championship results, fixtures and more in our briliant Stats Zone
