Sampson hopeful of Akinfenwa stay

Akinfenwa has consistently struggled for fitness since joining the Cobblers in January 2008 but has still scored 31 goals in 61 starts and is likely to attract attention in January. But Sampson said: "We will have some specific players here who are available for either loan or transfer, and they will be the players we don't at this stage see as being first-team players in the future."Bayo is obviously the most high-profile player we have. He scores a goal every other game and he is not a player we want to leave the club. Given the predicament we are in we will need his goals in the second half of the season."Bayo needs to stay here. He is out of contract in the summer and of course he could leave in the summer but we don't want him to leave in January."When I took over Bayo said he was fully committed to the club and his performances have shown that. His fitness levels are up and as they have increased his performances have improved."
