Salomon Kalou eyes title assault at Liverpool

Having scored the goals that enabled Chelsea to leapfrog Liverpool into second place in the title race, Kalou believed the momentum in the Premier League had shifted. When Liverpool visited Stamford Bridge in October they not only ended Chelsea's record 85-game unbeaten home league record, but planted a seed of doubt in the belief that Luiz Felipe Scolari could deliver the title to SW6.Some indifferent displays have opened further doubts over their title capabilities, but Kalou's double against Middlesbrough in a 2-0 win hinted at a revival. The game at Anfield offers both sides the perfect chance to keep the pressure on Manchester United, who are two points clear with a game in hand."Liverpool broke the record [in October] but we have the opportunity to go there, do something important for the team and put the record straight," said Kalou. "We know we can do that."The most pleasing thing is the victory [against Boro] and the fact that we've caught Liverpool and got closer to Manchester United. We will go to Anfield with more confidence."Kalou has now scored eight goals and despite having Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba in his team, he has set himself a lofty target."I would like to score 15 goals," he added. "We have some big games coming and I have to be focused."The only downside to Kalou's night against Middlesbrough came on Thursday when the Football Association confirmed they would be looking at the footage of his goal celebrations. It had been suggested his cross-wristed 'handcuff' style gesture could have been politically motivated, but Kalou denied that and the FA are unlikely to take action."People will think there is something in everything you do but the way I celebrated didn't mean anything," insisted Kalou. "It wasn't for anyone. It didn't mean anything. I was just happy and it was crossed arms, not wrists, and it was about my strength."Chelsea enjoyed two good results at Liverpool last season, drawing 1-1 in the league and in the first leg of the Champions league semi-final."It's always hard to go to Anfield but the last time we went there it was a great result for us," added Kalou. "We have to be positive and go with the thought in our minds to win the three points."After losing 3-0 at Old Trafford, Chelsea have won their last two league games and Kalou added: "Things have turned and maybe we will be going there in a different frame of mind to how it might have been a few weeks ago."Every team has these bad moments. We had ours a few weeks ago, Liverpool are in one now and maybe it will come to United soon. "So we have to be focused and hope that they have a bad moment. The Premier League is a strong league and you can never be certain of anything. "A couple of weeks ago Arsenal were back in it after they won at Stamford Bridge. We can be right back in it if we can win at Anfield."
