Broadfoot calm over Gers future

Scotland full-back Broadfoot has just returned from nine months out injured, during which time his and a number of his team-mate's deals have been allowed to wind down. The 25-year-old wants to extend his contract but, despite confirming Rangers chief executive Martin Bain had touched base with his agent, there has been no progress on that front."It's not affecting me at all because the main thing was to get myself back playing and get fit," said Broadfoot, who made his comeback in last weekend's 3-0 win over St Johnstone."I've only played two games; it's only been a week."It's not as though I've been playing now for months."I'm sure that'll come around and, when it does, we'll see what happens."He added: "Martin Bain's contacted my agent."I think that's an indication that the manager would like me to stay."I'd like to stay here but who knows what will happen."Obviously, you want your future sorted out."In football, you never know what's round the corner but I'm just happy being back playing."Broadfoot joined Rangers from St Mirren after signing a pre-contract in January 2007.Asked if he would consider something similar next month, he said: "Obviously if it comes to the stage where I have to sort my career out, I'll have to speak to other teams."But, right now, I'm more concentrated on getting a run of first-team games for Rangers."With Rangers facing a busy festive fixture programme, Broadfoot could be forgiven for wanting a breather having been sidelined for so long. But he said: "I've rested now for nine months, so I'm fresh and ready to play."I don't think you'll get any harder games than Dundee United away midweek after your first game at the weekend."I came through that so I don't see why I shouldn't be able to play in many more games."With Madjid Bougherra set to absent on Algeria duty at the African Nations Cup during January, Broadfoot could be asked to fill in at centre-half.It is something he has done before during his Ibrox career and he said: "I'll play anywhere the manager wants me to play."Obviously when Madjid goes, he's got a decision over whether he puts me centre-half, or Danny (Wilson), or even Lee McCulloch."It's a busy time of the year and I'm sure everyone will get used at some point."
