Giggs will play for Man United aged 37 after signing new deal at Old Trafford

Ryan Giggs has signed a one-year contract extension with Manchester United. At virtually the exact time Giggs was learning he must face old friend David Beckham for United against AC Milan in the first knock-out round of the Champions League, United confirmed the 36-year-old will remain at Old Trafford for another season. Giggs has performed superbly over the last 18 months and his amazing achievements were recognised last Sunday when he was named BBC Sports Personality of the Year.  Going strong: Giggs has shown no signs of slowing down with UnitedAnd it seems Ferguson does not think his latest contract will mark the end of Giggs' time at Old Trafford. 'Ryan deserves a new contract and I am sure that he will play for another two years,' said Ferguson. 'His form is fantastic at the moment and he is playing some of his best football.' With 11 Premier League titles and two European Cups already forming part of a staggering collection of trophies, Giggs has secured a place in the history books during a career in which he has amassed over 820 appearances for his only professional club. But the former Wales skipper has no intention of resting on his laurels just yet. 'I am delighted that I have agreed one more year,' he said. 'I am enjoying my football more than ever and I am looking forward to hopefully winning more trophies with Manchester United.'  Giggsy: The humble superstar who reminds us what the game has lost.Manchester United star Ryan Giggs named Sports Personality of the Year 2009Ryan Giggs: What they say about Man United's man for all seasonsLegend Giggs has the X-Factor, says former Man United team-mate BruceGiggs breaks news no rival fan wants to hear.
