McDaid nearing first-team return

The 23-year-old, sidelined since April 2008 after dislocating his knee and enduring further complications last season that required surgery, played the full game in a 1-0 defeat to Chesterfield.Rovers assistant manager Richard O'Kelly said: "The highlight for us was that Sean McDaid got 90 minutes under his belt as part of his comeback from his knee injury."The game was a good test and although Chesterfield scored the only goal it was more about match fitness and practice."They are always useful games and Chesterfield provided strong competitive action for players who have not had as much match practice recently."Former Leeds trainee McDaid played his last match for Rovers in a 1-1 League One draw at Orient towards the end of the 2007/8 season.
