Cherries: Howe happy to bring in Stech
Cherries boss Eddie Howe is hoping Marek Stech will help his team to victory at Morecambe today after he recruited the highly-rated goalkeeper on an emergency seven-day loan. Howe acted quickly to sign the West Ham United prospect after being given permission by the Football League to bring in a loanee with both Shwan Jalal (calf) and Dan Thomas (back) less than fully fit. Czech Republic youth international Stech trained with Cherries last week when Jalal was attempting to overcome an ankle injury. The Cherries number one recovered in time to face Barnet, but he then sustained a calf injury in last weekend's win over Shrewsbury. And with understudy Thomas also struggling ahead of this afternoon's League Two clash, Howe was given the green light to sign Stech, who the Echo revealed on Thursday was a possible loan target. We've seen him in training and he is very, very highly rated by West Ham, said Howe. He's previously been on loan at Wycombe so he has that experience. Hopefully he will come in and do well. Explaining the situation, Howe added: The grade one calf tear means Jalal is not going to be available. Dan's back has been plaguing him for a couple of weeks, so it has got to the stage where he is not fit either, so we had to bring someone in. We had to go to the league to see if they would let us bring a goalkeeper in and Marek is with us for seven days, upon which time we'll have to see if one of our two keepers is back fit again.
