Chris Hutchings in familiar role at Derby

Hutchings, until now assistant manager at Derby, replaced Jewell in similar circumstances at Wigan Athletic last year, and again at Bradford City in 2000, both times after Jewell resigned. He will initially manage the club for their FA Cup third-round tie at Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, and the Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Manchester United on Jan 7th.Jewell, 44, has left the club in 18th position, just five points above the relegation zone, having taken charge 13 months ago. The club's chairman, Adam Pearson, said: "It is disappointing. We had a chat after the game and Paul felt it was in the best interests if the club went in a different direction. "I think he felt things were conspiring against him and perhaps he just needed a fresh chapter. The pressure has been on Paul all season because of last year. There was a big hangover at the start of the season."
