Sigurdsson was dropped to the bench for the Royals' 4-2 midweek home loss to Crystal Palace, with manager Brendan Rodgers choosing to rest the Iceland international over fears he may begin to tire in his first season as a first-team regular. However, the 20-year-old admitted that although he was disappointed not to start, Rodgers made "the right decision".He told the Reading Chronicle: "We have loads of games coming up with about six matches every month right up to the end of February. But obviously I want to play."Hopefully I'll be back in for Scunthorpe this weekend but it's up to the gaffer. He knows what he's doing and I just have to get on with it."
