Forest midfielders set to move on

Winger Davies, 25 - signed from Yeovil as part of a £1million deal along with Chris Cohen in July 2007 - and Academy product Thornhill, 21, returned to Forest last week after Brighton boss Gus Poyet cut short their loan spells with the League One club.Forest manager Billy Davies believes a permanent move in the new year could be in the best interests of everyone."I have spoken to several players and the last thing I want to do is stop them progressing their careers," said Davies, when asked about the duo."Sometimes you find yourself at a football club at the wrong time and sometimes you have to take two steps backwards to take three forwards."We have good young players here who need to move on and who need to go and have a fresh start. There are players here who need to move on to kick-start their careers because I can't see them getting in the side here in the next couple of months."We don't want to waste their time. Over the next two or three weeks, we will be making some tough decisions to benefit them and the club."
