Valencia determined to keep United target Villa in Spain until the summer

Sharp: Valencia and Spain striker VillaValencia boss Unai Emery is desperate to postpone David Villa's transfer to Manchester United till the end of season. Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on Spain striker Villa and well aware of the Spanish side's crippling debts. Valencia will eventually have to cash in on their prized assets, but an impressive start to the season has convinced them to resist bids for Villa, David Silva and Juan Mata in the January transfer window. The club intend to raise about £55million by cashing in on two of the three Spain internationals and United are the favourites to snare Villa for about £35m. However, with Michael Owen hitting a fantastic hat-trick to clinch a 3-1 win at Wolfsburg on Wednesday night, Ferguson may be prepared to wait to make his move. Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona were also keen on 28-year-old Villa in the summer and may revive their interest. Silva, 23, had been pursued by Liverpool until Rafa Benitez grew tired with media leaks and pulled the plug on a deal, though the attacking midfielder has many admirers in La Liga. Mata, 21, is most likely to join Barcelona as a long-term replacement for Thierry Henry. Valencia duo Nikola Zigic and Miguel Monteiro also have several admirers in England. Bursting through: Mata (centre) looks set for a big-money moveTowering Serbia striker Zigic has been tracked by Arsenal, Everton, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City and Sunderland, while defender Miguel has been linked to Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur. Valencia hope to clinch the signing of Argentine forward Alejandro Dominguez on a free transfer to make up for the forthcoming exodus.   The 28-year-old is out of contract after helping Rubin Kazan to Russian Premier League glory on loan from Zenit St Petersburg. Valencia are third in La Liga, eight points behind leaders Barcelona but with a game in hand. Spurs star Defoe is Europe's hottest striker - despite a spot of botherMichael Owen sends World Cup message to England boss Fabio Capello with stunning Manchester United hat-trickMan United set for transfer tussle with Chelsea for Argentina star AgueroWolfsburg 1 United 3: Brilliant Owen fires hat-trick as defence holds firmJuventus 1 Bayern Munich 4: Butt spot on as Old Lady sink to Europa LeagueChelsea 2 APOEL Nicosia 2: Essien's hamstring injury is agony to the Blues   Explore more:People:Juan Mata, Rafa Benitez, Michael Owen, David Silva, David Villa, Alex Ferguson, Thierry HenryPlaces:Barcelona, Liverpool, Spain, United Kingdom
