Pawlett happy to commit to Dons

Pawlett, 18, was rewarded for his performances in victories over Rangers and St Johnstone and a draw at Motherwell during November. The attacking midfielder, who broke into the Dons first team in February, also won his first cap for Scotland Under 19's in a draw with Germany. He told his club's website: "It's been really busy for me recently. I was delighted to sign my four-and-a-half-year contract the other week."I've just broken in to the first team and I think it was right to sign for the club."Upon announcing Pawlett's new deal last month, manager Mark McGhee said: "The punters need to enjoy him during this period because I think in four-and-a-half years time, Peter Pawlett will not be a player that Aberdeen can afford."Awards like today's will only boost the reputation of the player, who said: "I'm absolutely delighted to win the award. The manager has given me the chance and I've enjoyed every minute of it."The team has been in really good form recently, apart from the weekend (defeat at Celtic) of course, and hopefully we will get back to winning ways on Saturday."Being a young boy in the first team and picking up this award has given my plenty of confidence."I suffered with injuries at the start of the season but since I came on against Dundee in the cup I haven't really ever looked back."I think I need to start scoring goals, that's something I need to bring to my game."But, apart from that, the team has been in quite good form and hopefully we can push on."
