Newcastle striker arrested after nightclub incident

NEWCASTLE United striker Andy Carroll was arrested today, following a brawl at a nightclub. The 20-year-old was allegedly involved in an incident inside Blu Blambu in Newcastle's Bigg Market in the early hours of the morning. A man was taken to Newcastle General Hospital with head injuries, not described as life threatening. He was later discharged. Carroll was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm, questioned and released on bail pending further enquiries. The footballer had been drinking with friends in the club's VIP area following the Magpies' 2-0 win against Watford at St James' Park, which saw Carroll appear as a second-half substitute. A Newcastle United spokesman said there was no comment from the club.
