Staunton: We showed a lot of fight

The Quakers' plight at the foot of the league shows no sign of abating as City strolled to a victory, which should have been much more emphatic than Steve Williams' solitary goal, but despite the visitors near-total dominance, Staunton has backed his players to turn things around. The former Liverpool defender said: "Sometimes there's a lack of confidence in games and then we seem to have long spells in the game where we look as though we're going to get something out of it."We have been conceding too many goals and not scoring enough. The plus point for me was that we conceded a goal and then didn't capitulate. We showed a lot of fight, especially in the second half."The goal just wouldn't come, but the players have come on fitness-wise and they need to maintain those levels as every game is a six-pointer. We have to get into the habit of winning games."
