The deal for Matthew cannot go through until the transfer window opens in January but it is expected to hit any last-minute snags. Arsenal were thought to be interested in the defender, but Ferguson moved quickly in securing the Welsh wonder's signature.Matthews, who has made 12 Championship starts for the Bluebirds, will cost United £5million with further payments to follow as the Swansea-born player progresses through their ranks.
