Kennedy considers coaching option

The 26-year-old was advised to call time on his career after eight operations failed to cure a knee ligament injury sustained on his international debut for Scotland in a friendly against Romania in March 2004, following a reckless challenge by Romania striker Ionel Ganea. He was out of the Hoops first team for over three years before returning on April 22, 2007 to help Celtic clinch the Scottish Premier League title with a 2-1 victory at Kilmarnock. But the following November he was forced off during a Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk at Celtic Park with further damage to the same knee.A move to Norwich last summer on loan ended when he returned to Glasgow at the end of the year after again damaging his knee and a fortnight ago Kennedy acted on medical advice to officially retire from the game. The former Celtic youth player, who claims he has not considered legal action against Ganea, said: "I need to continue my rehab until Christmas."I'm still up at Lennoxtown training every day but I suppose it will hit me when I come away from that."I am trying to put everything behind me and look to the future."In terms of what I'm going to do, I have a couple of ideas in mind."I will take my time to think about it."I want to stay in football, it's part of me, I have spent so long playing and in this environment and it's what I'm used to."Coaching has always interested me and I would definitely consider that."Even when I was playing I was thinking about coaching later in life so it would be up for consideration."
