Emnes hits double for Boro reserves

MARVIN Emnes pushed his first-team claims with a second-half brace as Middlesbrough reserves beat Grimsby's second string 4-1 at the Riverside. Andrew Taylor and Bruno Pilatos completed Boro's scoring on a night that also saw Chris Riggott, Tony McMahon and Didier Digard feature. Pilatos opened the scoring from McMahon's pull back in the 17th minute, before Taylor doubled the home side's lead shortly after the half-hour mark. Jean Louis Akpa Akpro pulled a goal back for Grimsby after the break, but Emnes, who was playing on the right wing, scored two goals in the space of eight minutes to make Boro's win safe.
