Rams make Campbell approach

Nigel Clough has asked about the possibility of bringing 28-year-old Campbell to Pride Park on loan and is now waiting on a decision from City counterpart Nigel Pearson."There are lots of phone calls at the moment but we have contacted Leicester and we are waiting to hear from them," said Clough. "He (Campbell) is one of a few players we have asked about and we think he wants to come here."I think we will get somebody in but it is about getting the right quality. I think the main criteria is pace. The player must have a bit of pace."The Rams however have been knocked back in their attempt to sign goalkeeper Fielding.Clough is looking for cover for Stephen Bywater now that second-choice keeper Saul Deeney could be out for up to six weeks after suffering a freak injury in the build-up to the game at Swansea.Deeney slipped and badly twisted his ankle outside the team's hotel on last week after the fire alarm had gone off.Clough tried to sign Fielding in the summer and has now missed out on the Rovers keeper again."They (Blackburn) have knocked us back. They do not want to let him out at the moment, so we are exploring other options," said Clough.Fielding, 21, has had loan spells at Wycombe, Northampton, Rochdale and Leeds but has yet to make a senior appearance for Blackburn.
