Shrewsbury boss rues slack start

Ryan Valentine opened the scoring in the fourth minute of Tuesday night's League Two clash at Edgar Street with a low shot from the penalty spot before Gavin McCallum added a second in the 31st minute.Waide Fairhurst pulled one back for Shrewsbury on the stroke of half-time but the visitors failed to find the net again, despite putting Hereford under heavy pressure in the closing stages."We didn't start properly, it's as simple as that," said Simpson. "It drove me mad when we came off after the warm-up saying how fantastic it was when everyone felt good."We started the game like that and conceded a penalty but before that we should have cleared our lines. Whether it was a penalty or not it was too hard to say from where I was sitting. It looked as though it was a clean tackle but it was from behind."But we shouldn't have allowed that to happen, we allowed someone to get a run-in and we haven't tracked their second goal when we allowed them to do a one-two. To be a good side you have got to start the game properly and we haven't done that."
