Bruce left sweating over Sunderland ace Bent as striker faces three weeks out

Anxious wait: Darren Bent could miss the best part of a month after a scan on his injured hamstringSunderland boss Steve Bruce is anxiously awaiting the results of a scan on top scorer Darren Bent.  Bent pulled up clutching his hamstring late in Saturday's 1-0 win over Arsenal at the Stadium of Light - a match in which he scored the winner - and underwent a scan yesterday.  The England striker, who has scored nine goals in a impressive start to his career on Wearside, is a doubt for this weekend's trip to Wigan and Bruce is hoping he is not set for a longer absence. He told the club's official website, www.safc.com: 'Darren's had a scan and we're waiting for the results. If it is his hamstring, we could be looking at about three weeks out.  'We won't know anything more until the results come back so we will have to keep our fingers crossed.'Bent's absence would leave Bruce with a headache as Kenwyne Jones is suspended after being sent-off against West Ham last month.   Sunderland ace Cattermole sticks up for manager Bruce after Whelan attackRedknapp prepares £6m Ferdinand rescue bid as Bruce discards defenderBent should go to the World Cup with England, says Sunderland ace CanaSUNDERLAND FC
