Jamie Carragher: Man City clash can kick-start Liverpool FC's season

Jamie Carragher 300JAMIE Carragher is itching to for a return to action against Manchester City.A one match suspension following his red card at Fulham forced the Liverpool defender to sit out the 2-2 draw with Birmingham prior to the international break. He watched the game from the Main Stand and believes the Reds did enough to take maximum points.Instead, it added to a run that has brought just one win in nine matches. It is a statistic Carragher is eager to turn around, starting with City this weekend.'I was at the Birmingham game and, like everyone, I was disappointed with the result,' he said.'Obviously the run we've been on at the moment hasn't been great so we could have done with a win to get things going again.'The longer the run goes on you've probably got to look a little bit deeper than just bad luck or refereeing decisions. We've all got to improve on the pitch. But watching that Birmingham game we were very unlucky.'The goal Cameron Jerome scored to put them 2-1 up just before half-time was an absolute wonder-strike. But on the balance of play and chances we created, I came away from it thinking we were unlucky not to get all three points.'When you consider the pressure on us going into the game, plus the players we had missing, it only added to the frustration.'
