Colgan joy at Town skipper role

The 36-year-old only joined the club in the summer but has been handed the role following last month's departure of Ryan Bennett to Peterborough. And Colgan has rubbished the notion that outfield players make better skippers. He told the Grimsby Telegraph: "I'm very privileged to get given the armband and there's a lot of pride there for me. I'm greatly honoured that Neil has asked me to do the job."People might say because I'm a goalkeeper I shouldn't be the captain, but I don't agree with that. Neil's asked me to take it on as I'm probably the most experienced in the squad."I'd like to think that some of my professionalism rubs off on some of the other lads."
