Fulop tells Steve Bruce: You don't need Portsmouth goalkeeper James

Marton Fulop is determined to make the most of Craig Gordon's latest bout of injury misery as he attempts to establish himself as Sunderland's first-choice goalkeeper. The 26-year-old Hungary international, who impressed during an extended run in the team last season, has been a frustrated bystander for much of the current campaign following the £9million man's return to fitness and form. However, having seen the Scotland international ruled out for up to three months by the broken arm he suffered in a collision with Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe, Fulop is now ready to stake his claim against Arsenal on Saturday. 'I definitely don't think the manager needs to bring in a new goalkeeper. On the wanted list: Pompey's David James 'Sunderland have three good goalkeepers, I include Trevor Carson as well, Craig is Scotland's number one and a very good goalkeeper, and I am an international as well. 'All three of us want to prove to him that there is no need to sign another goalkeeper.'Bruce has been considering his options since Gordon's injury and has been linked with Portsmouth's David James. However Fulop, who lost his place last season because of a troublesome heel problem, is hoping to prove he is the man for Bruce after spending too much time for his own liking on the sidelines. He said: 'It's not nice. You are here to play.  As a foreign player you miss your family, but if you're playing it doesn't hurt quite so much. 'I have never been someone who is willing to sit on the bench and pick up my wages. That would be easy money but I have always wanted to work hard and to prove to my family, my friends and my team-mates that I'm a good goalkeeper. 'I think in the long-term that attitude brings you rewards. You will get what you deserve.' VIDEO SPECIAL: Liverpool boys on film as Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard star in comedy ripping 'drunk' Sir Alex Ferguson and 'rat' Gary NevilleChelsea in sight of record £50m deal for Atletico Madrid star Sergio AgueroBruce lines up £5m switch to take Boro defender Wheater to SunderlandSUNDERLAND FC
