On-loan Man United defender Danny Simpson keen to stay with Newcastle

Danny Simpson is hoping to seal a permanent switch to Newcastle after admitting his future lies away from Manchester United.Simpson joined the Magpies on loan in the summer and has been in fine form as Chris Hughton's side have set the pace at the top of the Championship. The 22-year-old defender has spent time on loan at Sunderland, Ipswich and Blackburn over the past two-and-a-half years and, with his deal due to expire in  January, is ready to settle down on Tyneside. Danny boy: Simpson has found his feet on Tyneside'Obviously, I'm enjoying my football here, and if I do well enough to get an offer, then I'll consider it, as I'm enjoying my football at the moment,' he told the Sunderland Echo.'I just want to get as many games under my belt as I can until January. I've got no clue [what will happen in the transfer window] - I'm just taking it game by game.   'It's nice to be wanted and it would be nice at the end of the loan spell for Chris Hughton and all the staff to say they want me to stay. 'Hopefully, my performances will warrant that. You want to play on Saturday afternoon and I'm no different. 'I've been in and around different clubs. I had a spell where I didn't play and was on the bench [at Blackburn] and I've had times when I was playing and I know what I'd prefer. 'You want to train Monday to Friday and play on a Saturday. That's just me and the way I am.' Spurs, Newcastle and Pompey battle to sign Tamudo as Wigan give upNewcastle admirer Moat admits stadium name in danger - even if Ashley sells upNewcastle weighing up bid for Portugal Under 21 star Ukra THE LIST: Football's greatest penalty kings - Nos 10-1Hughton still up for taking ex-England defender Sol Campbell to NewcastleMANCHESTER UNITED FC
