Cobblers boss pleased with point

Both sides finished with ten men after the second half dismissals of Peter Gilbert and Rob Atkinson, both for professional fouls, but Sampson remained upbeat despite only picking up a point against struggling Grimsby."It was always going to be a hard-fought game in difficult conditions but if we'd taken our first half chances it could have been a different match," said Sampson."We were the most dominant of the two teams and we had three clear-cut chances in the first half but didn't take any of them. Once we went down to ten men I had to take a striker off but I wanted a clean sheet before the game, I've got that, but I also wanted a win."It's a slow process and I'm trying to bring new players in. But I don't want to bring in too many loan players so it will mean having to wait until January."
