Hyde: Posh 'want success yesterday'

Hyde skippered the club to promotion from League Two during the 2007/08 season to spark their rise up to the Championship under the management of Darren Ferguson. And he admits he is not overly surprised by the developments this week which have seen Ferguson part company with the club."It's sad," Hyde said. "Darren's a good manager and got on with everyone."I'm not happy with the decision but, as I say, I'm not surprised."The people who run the club want success yesterday. I don't think the people at Peterborough would be happy with the way it's going at the moment."The club's expectations are too high. It's sad to see him leave but I'm not surprised. That's the way they are."Ferguson's reign at London Road ended on Tuesday night in the wake of Posh's 3-1 defeat at Championship leaders Newcastle last time out, which left the side languishing bottom of the table and four points from safety.Yet, despite their position, Hyde believes the outcome has been far too rash."You would have thought they would want consolidation this season," he added."They've had back-to-back promotions and you would have thought it would be good just to consolidate and stick with Darren."Even if they had got relegated you can be sure he would have got them promoted again. They jumped the gun but that's football for you."Ferguson, 37, has been hailed as one of the best up-and-coming managers in the Football League and Peterborough even spurned advances from Reading for his services during the summer. And Hyde, who is currently captain of League Two outfit Barnet, added: "He's a lovely young manager with good ideas. He used to join in with training and got on with the players."I had a really good relationship with him. Darren is a great manager and hopefully he'll be back in management soon."
