Bratt set to relinquish Vale role

The 64-year-old, who on Thursday collected an MBE from the Queen, hopes to hand over the duel role of chairman and chief executive a year after Harlequin Property officially become the club's majority stakeholder - an investment deal which is due for completion soon.Bratt plans to stay on for a year to ensure a smooth crossover and, should everything go accordingly, he feels the time would be right to pass on the responsibility to someone new."As long as the club are on a safe financial footing, it would be nice to let somebody else do the job," he told The Sentinel. "I want to give it up in the foreseeable future."I'm considering stepping down in the next 12 months or so, because of issues to do with quality of life, the pressure of the job and for health and family reasons."But I will only do so if the club is in good hands, if it is on a stable financial footing and if the right ethics are in place which are required to keep it safe in the future."
