Bolton boss Gary Megson lining up £4m bid for Newcastle local hero Carroll

Bolton manager Gary Megson is willing to offer Newcastle's Andy Carroll a return to the Premier League in January.Megson sees the 20-year-old striker as a long-term replacement for Kevin Davies and, according to The Sun, will table a bid of around £4million.Gateshead-born Carroll is a fans' favourite among the Toon Army and has scored three goals this season as the Magpies have soared to the top of the Championship. Birmingham have also been linked with a move for Carroll, who signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract in March this year.
