Mowbray: It's all about the goals

Celtic have made just 13 accurate attempts on goal in three Group C games so far.The Hoops are bottom of the section with one point and take on section leaders Hamburg, who went on to top the table on six points with their 1-0 win in Glasgow last month. Before that defeat, Celtic scored in the 2-1 defeat by Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel and drew 1-1 at home to Rapid Vienna.Consequently, three points are needed in the Nordbank Arena if the Glasgow side are to have a realistic chance of qualifying but in contrast to the domestic scene, Celtic have evidently struggled in front of goal. However, the Parkhead boss, who has often used positive statistics to explain some poor results, said: "I'm not interested to be honest."Someone told me on the flight coming over that Juventus have scored three goals in their four matches and have got eight points."It is all about the result, really."If we'd won all three games with just three shots you'd all be sitting here all happy."All I can look at is our league games."We've just had 30-odd shots in one game (against Kilmarnock), and maybe 55-60 shots on goal in a week."Again, it is about how many goals you score."I look at my staff and I look at shots, possession, etc, and that's how you build levels of performance."But, ultimately. it is goals that count, and can you win the match."Mowbray insists he is "philosophical" rather than worried about the prospect of European elimination which will come if Celtic lose and Hapoel win against Rapid Vienna. The former Hibernian and West Brom manager went on: "Philosophical, I would suggest, is the word."I understand the games we have played in and how they have panned out. "We could easily be sitting here on six or seven points."But we know we have one and we have to accept that."That is a statistic which can't be twisted or bent, it's there in your face. We will try and have four by tonight."He added: "The team is trying to adjust to the new demands, and the way I want them to play."I have enjoyed the games in Europe and yet I have not enjoyed the results at the end of them."I hope as the team improves over time that the European experience is something we can look forward to." Hamburg 1/2, Draw 3/1, Celtic 6/1
