Nolan has been named as the PFA Fans' Championship Player of the Month for October after helping the Magpies maintain their fine start to the campaign. The 27-year-old is currently the club's leading scorer with eight goals and he is delighted with his form.Having struggled with a number of niggling fitness problems during his time with Bolton, Nolan believes he is reaping the rewards of being able to train more regularly."No disrespect to Bolton, but it was just the fact that I was carrying a lot of knocks," he said"I had problems with my ankle and problems with my ribs and in the end it takes its toll."I could never do a proper week's training and someone like me needs be training day in, day out, and that's something I have managed to do since I came back for pre-season."
