Sir Alex Ferguson gives Wayne Rooney time off after birth of son Kai

Rooney missed training on Monday in order to be with wife Coleen at Liverpool Women's Hospital for the birth of son Kai Wayne. United manager Ferguson had been planning to rest Rooney against the Russians in order to keep the forward fresh for Sunday's Premier League encounter with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, but a doubt over the fitness of Dimitar Berbatov had led to the prospect of Rooney being required for the Group B fixture. England manager Fabio Capello is due to attend Old Trafford on Tuesday and Owen admits that the Champions League offers him a route back into the international fold. Owen said: "I've played 89 times for England and I'd love to play for them again. That is the bottom line. "I can influence my chances by playing well and performing in the Champions League has to help. But I don't go to bed thinking if will play for England again. "I think about playing well for Manchester United. The rest will take care of itself." Meanwhile, United have agreed a five-year partnership with Nigerian telecommunications company Globacom worth £3 million-a-year.
